BLOOD PRESSURE - HIGH

by reducing salt (sodium) intake from 6 grams per day down to 2 grams per day and going back up to 3-4 grams per day when the blood pressure is normalized.

Before bed at night chew up 4-6 Blackmores MagMin tablets and wash down with a little warm water.

Take a high potency multi vitamin and mineral tablet with the evening meal to synergize the action of the bed time magnesium and optimalize its effects.

Under the supervision of a health care professional be weaned off the blood pressure drugs over a 8-14 day period.

Take regular blood pressure readings at home with a strap on self operated blood pressure monitor. Use the average of 4-5 readings to determine your blood pressure.

Eat a natural diet of fresh fruit, vegies, meat, fish, chicken and wholemeal bread (contains magnesium). Pre-packed meals are high in salt. Avoid pre-packed meals.

Salt retains fluid in blood which raises blood volume and increases pressure. Lowering salt does the opposite.

Magnesium relaxes artery wall muscles. Artery dilates and blood pressure drops. Magnesium relaxes all muscles, so over time muscle and sore joint aches and pains may ease. As will muscle cramps for those not on statin – cholesterol – drugs.

If you go into a deep sleep on this regime it’s because you are becoming very relaxed by the magnesium supplements. You have not been drugged. Magnesium is a natural mineral not a drug. It is not harmful or habit forming. Most of the population is magnesium deficient.

The ALLHAT study that describes the side effects of blood pressure lowering drugs and how some of them increase the likelihood of heart failure by 38% and stroke by 15% can be read about in “Selling Sickness” by Ray Moynihan (Allen & Unwin)

and

“The Truth about the Drug Companies”
By Marcia Angell MD (Scribe Publishing).

Both are available in book stores.
