HEAT STROKE
Cause: excessive exposure to too much heat. If sunburn is associated with heat stroke the symptoms are more severe.
Symptoms: Fever = irritability, restlessness, thirst. Heaviness of the body Heaviness of the head (woolly headed feeling) Nausea Diarrhoea Tiredness, lethargy, fatique Urine is dark and concentrated Desire to curl up Shortness of breath Weak rapid pulse Treatments: Remove the heat from the body with: Lotus stem and Ginseng combination.
Water melon rind (outer) - xi gua cui yi - 10.0 Ginseng American - xi yang shen - 2.0 Lotus stem - he geng - 3.0 Dendrobium - shi hu - 4.0 Ophiopogon - mai men dong - 3.0 Coptis - huang lian - 0.5 Anemarrhena - zhi mu - 2.0 Lophatherum - dan zhu ye - 2.0 Licorice - gan cao - 3.0 Rice - jing mi - 5.0
The following herbal formula is obtainable from any Chinese herbalist or herbal pharmacy in lose herb form.
Put loose herbs in a clay pot (from the herbalist) with 4-5 cups of water. Bring to the boil then simmer for 50 minutes, stirring periodically. Simmer the 4-5 cups of water down to one cup of herbal decoction, drink warm water.
Retire to a cool area and rest up. Rest in a cool environment or take regular cool showers or baths for as long as it takes (usually days) for the symptoms to go. Take the herbs daily fpr the duration.
